Clareamento endógeno em dentes tratados endodonticamente
uma revisão narrativa da literatura

This study was characterized as a narrative literature review with a systematic approach, aiming to analyze endogenous bleaching protocols in endodontically treated teeth, considering their clinical efficacy, biological safety, aesthetic stability, and associated complications. The research was conducted in the PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, and LILACS databases, including publications between 2020 and 2025 in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Seventeen articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected, encompassing clinical and laboratory studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and case reports. The results demonstrated that endogenous bleaching is an effective and predictable technique for the aesthetic restoration of darkened teeth after endodontic treatment, provided that individualized protocols are applied, based on accurate diagnosis and the use of a cervical barrier. Hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide, in concentrations between 10% and 35%, stood out as the most commonly used agents, with proven efficacy and a low incidence of complications when applied gradually. The main complications reported were transient sensitivity, tooth weakening, and the potential risk of root resorption, generally controllable through adjustments to the protocol and radiographic monitoring. The literature also highlighted gaps regarding the standardization of techniques and the scarcity of longitudinal studies evaluating the durability of the results. It is concluded that endogenous bleaching represents a safe and effective aesthetic alternative, provided that rigorous technical and biological criteria are observed, emphasizing the importance of future studies that deepen comparisons between agents, techniques, and long-term clinical results.
