Abstract

This article aims to identify the need for adapted bathrooms for ostomized people in the city
of Manaus, considering the difficulties faced due to the lack of adequate infrastructure in
public and private spaces. These individuals experience embarrassment and limitations when
using regular bathrooms, directly affecting their quality of life. The study was based on articles,
bibliographic research, and online newspapers in order to understand the reality of ostomized
people and analyze how civil engineering can contribute with proposals tailored to this
population. Therefore, the research seeks to answer the following question: how does the
absence of adapted bathrooms affect the accessibility and quality of life of ostomized people
in Manaus, and how can civil engineering propose solutions to this problem?
