Abstract

ABSTRACT

Arboviruses represent an emerging public health problem in the Amazon, where environmental and social conditions favor the circulation of Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya, and Oropouche viruses. During pregnancy, these infections acquire special relevance due to their association with adverse outcomes such as congenital malformations, preterm birth, low birth weight, and perinatal deaths. Coinfection by multiple arboviruses increases clinical severity, complicates differential diagnosis, and compromises the maternal immune response. Furthermore, the emergence of Oropouche virus as a teratogenic threat reinforces the need to expand epidemiological surveillance. This literature review aimed to analyze the available evidence on arboviral coinfections during pregnancy and their impact on maternal and fetal health in the Amazon region. Findings highlight the urgent need for integrated public health strategies, strengthening prenatal care, expanding molecular testing, and adapting policies to the socio-environmental particularities of the Amazon.
