The occurrence of impacted canines is multifactorial, resulting from a combination of environmental, systemic and local conditions. In principle, there are five treatment options for impacted lower canines. Additionally, the use of grafts after surgical removal of the impacted canine may be recommended to increase bone availability. The objective of the present study was to report a clinical case about the surgical treatment of a canine impacted in the mandible, highlighting the beneficial use of bone graft and Fibrin-Rich Plasma – PRF. A 23-year-old patient sought a dental office under the guidance of her orthodontist to evaluate an impacted lower canine in her right jaw. In this way, the patient was thoroughly evaluated. An imaging exam was requested, which confirmed the presence of the canine in a vertical position between the roots of teeth 42 and 44. With no medical contraindications, the surgery was scheduled under local anesthesia. On the day of the procedure, the patient had blood collected to obtain PRF. The surgery involved antisepsis, infiltration with anesthesia, mucosal incision, tissue detachment, osteotomy to expose and remove the tooth, regularization of the bone edges, irrigation with saline solution, application of PRF and suturing with absorbable and non-absorbable threads. Bone grafts play a crucial role in repairing bone defects, offering a biocompatible alternative that promotes the formation of new bone. The use of bone grafts in conjunction with PRF enhances results, accelerating bone regeneration and soft tissue healing. This combination provides a more favorable environment for recovery, reducing the chances of complications and ensuring more effective integration of the graft into the existing bone tissue.
