Abstract

Food and Nutrition Education (FNE) is a fundamental strategy for promoting health and guaranteeing the human right to adequate food in Brazil. However, there is a shortage of teaching materials that link this topic to the reality of Youth and Adult Education (YAE), a modality marked by age heterogeneity, diverse life experiences, and conditions of social vulnerability. This article presents the development of a Pedagogical Guide to Food and Nutrition Education for EJA teachers, produced as an educational product of a Professional Master's Degree in Education, based on the reality of the municipal education network of Juazeiro-BA. This is a qualitative study, based on the assumptions of Freirean pedagogy, which involved diagnosis with teachers, systematization of priority content, and organization of teaching sequences based on active methodologies. The guide is structured in five chapters, addressing: (1) food as cultural identity; (2) nutritional values; (3) critical reading of labels and packaging; (4) chronic diseases related to food; and (5) sustainability and full use of food. Each chapter is accompanied by practical appendices (worksheets, games, and scripts) for use in the classroom. The result is a practical, critical, and innovative resource that strengthens teacher training and promotes contextualized teaching practices, which can be replicated in other school systems.
